Cornered Youngkin Responds to Trump’s Out-of-the-Blue Viral Rant

Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Friday refrained from responding to comments made about him by former President Donald Trump.

“Young Kin (that’s an interesting take. Sounds Chinese doesn’t it?) in Virginia couldn’t have won without me,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“I supported him, did a very big Trump rally for him over the phone, got MAGA to vote for him – or he couldn’t have come close to winning. But he knows that and admits it. Also, he’s having a rough time with the Dems in Virginia — but he’ll make it!” Trump wrote of Youngkin.

Youngkin refused to get involved when reporters cornered him later in the day.

After the Dominion voting machine disaster, ballots are now gone

“First of all, I didn’t see it,” Youngkin said in a clip posted to Twitter by WRIC-TV reporter Jackie DeFusco.

“Listen, you all know me. I don’t name names. I work really hard to bring people together and that’s what we’re working on,” he said.

Could Youngkin win the Republican nomination in 2024?

Youngkin stated that he did not want to hear the post read.

“That’s not how I roll and that’s not how I behave,” he said. “This is a moment for us to come together.”

Virginia got on Trump’s radar after Lt. gov. Winsome Earle-Sears on Thursday commented that Trump could be a part of the GOP’s past rather than its future.

“What we saw was that even though he wasn’t on the ballot, because he stepped in and endorsed candidates, it was him,” Earle-Sears said, according to The Washington Post.

“And yet it turns out that those he didn’t endorse on the same ticket fared better than those he did endorse. That gives you a hint that voters want to move on. And a true leader knows when they’ve become a liability to the mission,” she said.

A Trump representative responded with a statement to the Post.

“Winsome Sears rode a wave of voters from President Trump to victory in 2021,” the statement said. “Her comments are a slap in the face to all the grassroots Republicans who worked so hard to get her elected. You won’t forget that and there will be a reckoning. There is always in politics.”

Radio host John Fredericks, who ran Trump’s campaigns in Virginia both times he ran for president, also responded.

“If you think Winsome Sears did this without Glenn Youngkin’s consent, you are naïve,” Fredericks said on his website,

“This is his salvo to run for President. Good luck beating Team Trump in Virginia. We will destroy him in his own condition,” he said. Cornered Youngkin Responds to Trump’s Out-of-the-Blue Viral Rant
