The cyclist suffered multiple fractures after thugs attacked him in Waltham Forest and stole his £12,500 bike.

The victim, about 40, was approached by a group of men in hoodies around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 while cycling between the Lea Valley Ice Center and the Lea Valley Riding Center.

The group pushed him off his bike before another member took it and rode into the swamps.

One of the other members repeatedly kicked the victim. The victim lost teeth, fractured his jaw in two places, and also fractured his collarbone and shoulder blade.

Detective Helen Cordes, who is leading the investigation, said: “This incident may have caused the victim nerve damage and required multiple surgeries.” It is imperative that we find those responsible.

“This area is regularly used by commuters and I would ask any cyclists in the area at this time to share any helmet or bodycam footage that may have caught this incident or the suspects. I would also ask anyone in the industry to keep an eye out for this bike and anyone trying to sell such a high quality bike.”

Anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information should call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC with reference number CAD 7178/23MAY.
