Danny Tang wins Triton Vietnam $25,000 Short Deck Event
Danny Tang won his first Triton Poker Title that emerged victorious in 2023 from a field of 57 entries Triton Super High Roller Series Vietnam $25,000 Short Deck Event with the trophy and top prize of $427,000.
The Hong Kong bracelet winner has now racked up nearly $13.7 million in tournament earnings, of which more than $4.9 million was won triton events.
Tang dedicated this victory to the late Ivan Leow, who tragically died while attending the triton Festival in Cyprus last year.
“I think about him every day,” Tang said triton Reporter. “Every single day… It’s definitely dedicated to him.”
This was Tang’s first live tournament cash of 2023. He earned 420 card player Player of the Year points as the winner, enough to put him within reach of the top 400 in 2023 POY Race sponsored by Global Poker.
Tang overcame a stacked final table with names like in this event World Poker Tour And European Poker Tour World Champion Michael Watson (6th), Super High Roller Bowl V World Champion Isaac Haxton (5th), Aussie million $100,000 High Roller Champion Richard Yong (3rd) and two-time POY Winner Stephen Chidwick (2nd) among those who earned the money at this event.
With 2,523 points and $3,991,140 this year, this was Haxton’s sixth final table finish of the year POY accrued revenue. Haxton has already won three titles in 2023, including two seven-figure paydays for winning $100,000 buy-in events at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures. Due to his hot start to the year, he is now sixth overall POY placements.
Chidwick also climbed the POY Leaderboard thanks to his success in this event. The $310,000 and 350 points he earned as a runner-up was enough to put him 17th on the leaderboard with $2,408,132 to date POY Result and 2,066 points.
