On Sunday afternoon, the top-ranked VCU Rams (26-7) will take on the second-ranked Dayton Flyers (22-11) for the A-10 championship title. Read on for a Dayton vs. VCU analysis.
The VCU was red hot, winning eight straight and ten of their last eleven affairs. The Flyers haven’t been as strong, having won just three of their last five. On Saturday, the Rams defeated the Saint Louis Billikens 90-78 while the Flyers defeated the Fordham Rams 78-68.
Oddsmakers expect this to be a close encounter, with VCU a 2-point favorite as they seek their first Atlantic 10 title since 2015.

The winner of this game will receive an automatic bid for the tournament. VCU is in the projected March Madness bracket. Neither will pose much of a threat at March Madness odds.

Tip-Off is scheduled for Sunday, March 12 at 1:00pm ET at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The game will be broadcast by CBS. The Rams are considered the -130 favorite to win their conference tournament finals against the Flyers.
Dayton Flyers betting analysis
Dayton dealt with Fordham on Saturday, turning a three-point half-time lead into a ten-point triumph. Fordham led all NCAA Division I baskets in most wins after falling behind at halftime this season, so it was far from certain that the Flyers would advance. Toumani Camara had 28 points and Daron Holmes had 20. With just over six minutes left, Dayton went on a 13-4 run to ensure they were the ones going through.

The Flyers have been searching for their first A-10 title since 2003. Since then they have lost three finals (2004, 2011, 2015). They have lost five of their last seven against VCU but have won two of their last three. This year they lost 63-62 on January 13 but retaliated 62-58 on February 7.
VCU Rams Betting Analysis
The top seeded VCU Rams were stellar on Saturday, taking the lead against the Billikens by just over 15 minutes and never looking back. Jayden Nunn led the team with 18 points as he was one of five Rams to score double digits. In their eight-game winning streak, all but two of their games have been double-digit wins. The loss that preceded their run was against Dayton last month.

Despite losing the A-10 championship in 2015, the VCU have been bitten by snakes in a number of finals appearances over the past decade. They lost the last game five times, in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2021.

VCU are the hotter squad and they’ve won five of their last seven encounters against their peers. Dayton has two losses with four and five points and three wins in their last five.
Five of Dayton’s last six duels resulted in more than 125.5 total points. Six of the last seven times the Rams have played on the field have also had totals in their games above the listed 125.5. That seems to indicate overhitting – however, both tilts have accumulated less than 125.5 points this year, and that has been the case three of the last four times these two teams have met.
