DC’s Zatanna movie No Longer Happens at HBO Max

DC’s current movie list is about to be released and almost nobody knows. Although a recent report from The Hollywood Reporter reported that her planned Zatanna movie is no longer happening on HBO Max.

Following a recent investigation into upcoming DC plans, it was revealed that JJ Abrams’ Constantine and Zatanna plan, the first written by Promising Young Woman actress and director emeritus Fennell, has been kicked out of the project at HBO Max. The report mentions that both projects are now being sold to other streamers, although it’s not yet known if they will end up anywhere.

As for Abrams, THR points out that he’s still in talks with DC about other projects, but still nothing concrete. This is another strand of project postponements and cuts happening behind the scenes at Discovery. The company hopes to break into the big theater world, but its future depends on its streaming services.

When published by Gardner Fox and Murphy Anderson, Zatanna Zatara appeared in the Hawkman comics in November 1964. She is the daughter of a famous stage memory spiriting gorilla named Zatara who started in the Golden Age of Comics. Zatanna inherited his father’s magical powers and career as a stage magician. Some of her cool powers include the ability to control the elements, such as telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation, and reality manipulation.
