Details explored as Raphael Adolini’s gun’s origin is changed in movie

The latest movie in the Predator franchise, prey, has reconnected an important detail in the film’s continuity. Since the release of the first film predatorin 1987, tech-savvy hunters have developed a cult following.

Originating from the Yautja species, these apex predators appear on our blue planet to hunt and prove themselves as worthy hunters. However, after the first two films, the timeline of the Predators film series was a mess.

The film franchise has kept its fair share of mysteries, including the secret of the Flint stock pistol Greyback famously gave to Michael Harrigan. The mystery was apparently solved by the Dark Horse comic Predator: 1718.

However, the new film prey changed the gun’s history once again, creating a mystery as to where the gun came from and how it will end up in Grayback’s custody.

in the preyThe flint weapon given to Naru by the trapper has “Raphael Adolini 1715” engraved on it.

Do I have your attention for a moment? PREY is fantastic.

prey is one of the best films in the Predator franchise. The story takes place in 1719 on the Great Plains, and our protagonist is Naru, a member of the Midwestern Comanche tribe.

Naru can be seen marveling at the Yautja spacecraft, assuming it to be a thunderbird, a noble creature symbolizing power, protection, and strength.

Naru, like the other tribesmen, dreams of becoming a hunter, but the women of the tribe are barred from hunting activities. When a yautja hunts trappers and their tribe across the vast plains, Naru takes it upon himself to prove her power and slay the dreaded yautja beast.

After escaping the French fur traders’ trap, Naru and her brother Taabe approach their camp again to rescue their dog, only to find their people dead. One of the fur traders tells Naru to offer her his flint pistol to protect her.

After Taabe loses his life, Naru sneaks up on Yautja by consuming an orange flower that cools her blood and renders her invisible to the Predator’s thermal vision. She uses the flint stock to shoot the mask off his face and kills the Predator with a projectile that follows the same mask’s lasers.

Just finished #Prey and to be tall #predator Fan I really like it, especially all the references to the first two films. I really enjoyed seeing the gun that ended up giving character to Danny Glover #predator2 in this movie @DannyTRS @predator

At the end of the film, Naru offers the weapon to the tribal chief, and the weapon is revealed to be the same flint offered to Harrigan by the Yautja Greyback. To refresh the memory, in Predator 2 set in the 1990s, after Danny Glover’s character Harrigan kills the Predator, the Greyback offers him the gun engraved with “Raphael Adolini 1715” as a token of respect.

Unfortunately, while viewers thought the mystery surrounding Adolini’s flint inventory would be solved in the sequel, it wasn’t.

Fans had to wait six years for the release Predator: 1718, a comic by Dark Horse that revealed the weapon’s secret. The flint stock belonged to the pirate captain Raphael Adolini, who clashed with his crew over a mutiny.

Angry that his crew had stolen the sacred gold from a church, he picked them up one by one. The Predator Greyback surfaced to help Adolini, but the captain was shot in the back by his crewmate.

With his last breath, Adolini offered Greyback the Feuerstein share.

While fans used to have explanations for the mystery of the guns, they now have two. The sad part is that both reveals are contrasting, meaning one of the reveals exists in Predator continuity and not both.

We assume that Prey reconnected the comic book origins of Adolini. Greyback is now expected to take the gun, which is then handed over to Harrigan.

How that will happen is the next mystery as fans await the Prey sequel. However, fans must pay attention to the animated credit scene, which shows several alien ships approaching the Comanche camp. Perhaps the makers have already hinted at a sequel.

prey is now available on Hulu. The film stars Amber Midthunder as Naru, Dakota Beavers as Taabe, Ray Strachan, Stefany Mathias and Dane DiLiegro as the Predator.
