Detective Pikachu 2: A long-disclosed switch is ‘going off’

A developer was working on the Nintendo Switch sequel.

According to Nintendo Life, a senior game programmer at Creatures Inc., Jonathan Murphy mentions Detective Pikachu 2 on his LinkedIn page.

Murphy said he’s been “working on an unannounced project and another one that’s about to release, Detective Pikachu 2.”

While the game is a bit new, it’s pretty much everything we’ve heard about it since it was first announced in 2019. The Pokemon Company announced at the same time that it would not be a port or re-release of the original 3DS game, but a full-fledged sequel.

To be confused with the movie that made headlines, Detective Pikachu is a cinematic adventure game that follows a protagonist as he travels to Ryme City to find his father. Players travel around to solve a problem and meet trainers and Pokémon of all generations.

It’s definitely one of the more unique scenes in the series, featuring a loud-talking Pikachu instead of your typical soft, gentle, and sweet version. Pokemon Company still hasn’t even realized how exciting a Pokemon game is, most recently with the release of Legends: Arceus.

In an 8/10 video game, IGN said, “Detective Pikachu is a great science and gives you a glimpse into the world of Pokemon with its fun mysteries and coffee-loving leadership.”
