A day of Oktoberfest fun will be held at the food company’s headquarters in Bedale between 2pm and 8pm on Saturday September 30th, with great food, beer and fun for all ages, a best dressed dachshund competition and live Oktoberfest entertainment Yorkshire Oompah Band.
In a huge Oktoberfest tent with traditional benches, people are invited to celebrate everything that makes the legendary fall festival so great without having to travel all the way to Germany.
For one day only, HECK will be bringing a very Nordic twist on Bavarian festivities, swapping its popular pork meatballs for foot-long bratwursts, with stones of Veltin’s German Pilsener, a wine, gin and Jagër station and a selection of soft drinks everything down to wash.
Yorkshire’s own Oompah Band will keep the vibes going throughout the day. This authentic German Oompah band, complete in Lederhosen, will perform a repertoire of traditional Bavarian drinking songs and dances as well as popular Oompah-style songs.
Based in Yorkshire, these full-time professional musicians perform across the UK and visitors are also welcome to wear lederhosen and dirndls, with prizes handed out for the best dressed of the day. Classic Oktoberfest games are also played.
Don’t forget furry friends and well-behaved dogs on a leash. Following the fun and frolic of last year’s Dachshund Dash (pictured above), this year HECK is also inviting people to bring their “best dressed” Dachshunds where they are sought after “Wiener takes everything” A trophy and a delicious sausage are waiting for the lucky Daxie.
Amy Seed from Heck said: “Last year Oktoberfest was sold out and this year we are back with a fun day that is even bigger and better.
“The traditional German Oktoberfest is a great seasonal celebration. Since sausages are at the heart of our business and beer is the perfect partner for a bratwurst, we wanted to bring some of that Munich magic a little closer to home – all with a Yorkshire twist, of course!”
