Divorce Lawyer Shin Season 1 Episode 4 Summary
Another solid part, but one that suffers from a relatively slow pacing.

During the completion of Ae-rans Story Delivered a Nice Twist, episode four of Divorce Attorney Shin didn’t have an appealing rhythm. The pacing didn’t feel good, and while the action was always captivating, the show wasn’t easy to immerse yourself in. However, there are promising signs for the coming weeks.

Yu-seok starts making plans and Sung-han gives Ae-ran a plan
Despite her apologies and requests to return her resume, it looks like it is Seo Jin will continue to be a part of Sung-hans Law firm. He’s still impressed by the former DJs wide range of skills and understands her act of “desperation” to find employment. Simultaneously, Yu-seok’s The intern realizes that the lawyer he is spying on is the man he filmed playing the piano. He then breaks news of Ae-ran’s case to his superior, who informs the newcomer that it is time to prepare for his first case, where he will represent the cleaner’s husband.
After a flashback reveals that Ae-ran couldn’t find the notarized documents she was looking for and arguing with Byeong cheol about his inability to ever side with her or acknowledge her depression, we move on. Here the breadwinner admits that her husband is decent, which is why he allows it Owl Bun so much leeway before clearly claiming the elder is the sole reason for their arguments. Over time, Sung-han suggests that Ae-ran counters her mother-in-law for defamation, which would mean she spread an elaborate lie about the cleaning lady never hitting her tormentor.

Ae-ran is struck by her husband’s harsh words about her alleged anti-trust insolence in suing Eul-bun for defamation and flees a confrontation. This leaves Sung-han alone with Byeong-cheol, who is only irritated by the provocations of his wife’s abuse and the lies he has told about owning his building. It’s then Attorney Shin’s turn to be upset, with the divorce specialist feeling frustrated at the prospect of Yu-seok being involved in the upcoming trial.
Hyeong-geun is left alone at his home and his friends are too clumsy in their attempts to offer comfort after finding out what was upsetting him so much. This revelation drives Byeong-cheol to return the good deed as, in addition to a notarized copy, he shares a record proving that he is the actual owner of the building that currently bears his mother’s name. Afterwards, Ae-ran begins to cry at her husband’s subsequent words, showing that he was truly aware of the struggles she went through.
The resolution of Ae-ran’s arc, plus Choi Jun’s resignation
Later, Eul-bun berates her son for giving Ae-ran some of his property and again raises the Vice Principal’s daughter, er “should have married” But this time Byeong-cheol defends his wife and tells his mother the truth. He was rejected by the teacher because he didn’t want Eul-bun to be placed in a foster home, and Ae-ran was someone he had harbored feelings for for a long time when she was pregnant. Shaken, the eldest seems both touched and frustrated that the son she cares about so much has allowed her to remain a “burden”.
After preparing dinner for her mother-in-law, a crying Ae-ran begs for forgiveness. “Thanks to you, I’ve had the luxury of growing old with warm food and an apartment.” says a sincere owl-bun in a surprising reply, before showing emotional gratitude to the family’s breadwinner. That being said, it’s clear that the eldest wants Ae-ran to make things right with Byeong-cheol, as she requests that she make him something to eat as well. Also, we soon find out that the divorce suit has been withdrawn.
While Choi Jun a resignation letter to Yu-seok is enough, we gain insight into the next case that could be dealt with. Details are vague at the moment, but it appears to be a divorce involving someone named Professor Choi, who one woman is totally against, even though he’s been living with someone else for three years.

When Choi Jun is rejected by Sung-han, he negotiates with the lawyer he looks up to for a job. The deal is this: if the rookie gets hired, he’ll record footage of Shin playing the piano. However, all of this infuriates Sung-han, and the episode ends with the lawyer ready to slap Choi Jun for filming, editing, and uploading the viral video.
