Doctor Pulls Live Worms From Man After He Eats Sushi – Women After 40

UK sushi retail market is on fire! It has an estimated net sales of over $87 million! Sushi may be delicious – but it can also be dangerous.

A 32-year-old man from Portugal enjoyed some slices of raw fish served by a Japanese restaurant.

After eating the fish, he suffered from abdominal pain for about a week and went to the hospital.

Using an endoscope, the doctors found the cause of his discomfort, and it’s going to make you sick! The man had a parasitic worm infection!

Some of the worms had even begun to burrow into his intestinal lining – which can be fatal!

Raw fish, like sushi, can contain tiny worms and can cause a disease called anisakiasis (also known as herringworm disease) if eaten.

A severe case of anisakiasis can produce an anaphylactic reaction that can be fatal.

Fortunately, using a special tool, the doctors were able to remove all the worms from the man’s intestines, and he soon recovered.

So the moral of this story is to be careful when eating sushi.

According to the CDC, symptoms of anisakiasis include nausea, vomiting, bloated abdomen, diarrhea, blood and mucus in the stools, low-grade fever, and abdominal pain.

If that’s not enough to scare you, some experts say that people who eat a lot of sushi put themselves at higher risk of mercury poisoning (which can cause heart disease and brain problems like decreased cognitive function).

The best way to prevent anisakiasis is to cook the fish before eating it.

Share away folks.
