Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2 Episode 3 Summary

The episode begins with Nagatoro waking up from a nap in the art room. When Senpai reprimands her for doing so, she gets a call from her friends and decides to go have “girl talk” with them. When Senpai realizes that she left her cell phone, he wants to give it back to her and soon realizes that he has no idea what class she is in. A girl with a ponytail tries to help him and asks for information about Nagatoro when Senpai realizes that he doesn’t even know her first name, just a nickname. Luckily, the girl with the ponytail seems to recognize it and shows him the right classroom.

Senpai checks the room but Nagatoro is not inside. He considers leaving the phone with some of her friends but decides against it, fearing harassment, and ends up hiding in a classroom locker to avoid encountering them. As if things weren’t already awkward, Nagatoro suddenly comes running into the same room with her friends. He’s forced to listen as the girls talk about boyfriends and guys, overhearing when Nagatoro says her guy is “someone I like to hang out with, I guess”. He’s immediately reminded of all the time they spent together while the other girls tease them.

Suddenly, Nagatoro realizes that she lost her phone. The girls wonder if it’s in the art room and tease her again for all the time she spends there, causing him to shake the locker. Nagatoro gets up to check it out and finds Senpai hiding inside. She’s upset at first when she asks him what he’s doing, but when he hands her the phone, she feels better and makes up an excuse to sneak him into the hallway. There, she scolds him, but also thanks him before getting upset that he overheard her. Instead of admitting it, he runs down the hall.

Later that evening, Senpai jogs to train for the school marathon. He hopes to impress Nagatoro one day, but injures his ankle. It’s not enough to stop him running, but he checks it again the next day before the race.

Though Senpai can’t find her before the race, as soon as the race starts, Nagatoro quickly comes running next to him. She and her friends challenge him to a race, but he refuses, preferring to run at his own pace. They compare him to the turtle from the turtle and the hair story, when suddenly the president of the art club, Sunomiya, comes running by in a scantily clad bunny outfit. Senpai tries to explain that she makes “performance art”. The girls decide they want to compete against them, but Senpai warns that the President is quite an athlete, prompting Nagatoro and her friends to try and get him to do it instead.

The group gets separated when a street lamp switches, leaving Nagatoro and Senpai to continue on their own. She notices that he’s been practicing and compliments him on his efforts while also teasing him about it. At that very moment he has to stop because he injures his ankle again. Concerned, Nagatoro stops to see what’s going on. He brushes off the injury as a minor sprain and encourages her to keep going, but she decides to stay and instead help him by putting her shoulder under his arm.

end explained

Nagatoro teases that this experience feels like a war movie, and Senpai realizes he never quite knows what she’s thinking. Noticing that his ankle is still injured, Nagatoro offers to carry Senpai on her back because it’s faster. She jokes that it won’t be hard because he doesn’t weigh much and continues jogging with him on her back. As Nagatoro starts fighting, her friends catch up to her and help her carry senpai while rushing to catch up with Sunomiya. In the end, they manage to beat her but end up being disqualified.

Senpai hasn’t seen or spoken to Nagatoro in 2 days and worries that he did something to upset her so he texts but then worries he didn’t say enough. Seeing Nagatoro’s friends in the hall, he asks them where she is and they of course tease him before admitting that she is home with a cold. After seeing if he knows where she lives, they give him her homework to take her to her house.

When he emerges, no one answers the door and tells him to enter the yard and make sure Nagatoro is okay, but he’s quickly caught by someone who accuses him of being a creep. It’s only when he introduces himself that the girl realizes he’s not a threat and introduces herself as Nagatoro’s older sister.

Once again, Nagatoro delivered a fun but relationship-building episode. The middle was mostly fluff, but it was nice to see Nagatoro and Senpai getting back to each other’s sides. It shows how comfortable they are with each other. The end of this episode mixed things up with the introduction of Nagatoro’s sister before the storylines felt too repetitive. Seeing if she is as ruthless as her sister will prove interesting, especially knowing Nagatoro’s jealous side.
