Summary

Despite some ups and downs along the way, Senpai and Nagatoro’s date ends on a high note, closing season two on a perfect note.

We recap Crunchyroll series Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2 Episode 12, “Are You Going to Do Something to Keep It from Being a Dry Run?” containing spoilers and explaining the ending.

Despite countless trips, from visiting the zoo to meeting each other’s families, senpai And Nagatoro (spoken by Sumire Uesaka) do not have an actual date yet. That’s about to change this week, as Senpai and Nagatoro finally embark on their first romantic trip together to the aquarium.

While this feels like the perfect next step in their relationship, there’s no telling what could go wrong when her friends sneak in to watch her. Viewers hope it doesn’t end in disaster, at least for Senpai and Nagatoro.

Don’t Play With Me Miss Nagatoro Season 2 Episode 12 Summary

The episode begins with Senpai and Nagatoro taking the bus to the aquarium together. Nagatoro teases Senpai, saying that she will help him practice dating by grading him throughout their outing. Gamo And Yoshi watch her from afar Hanna And Sunomia follow on their motorbike.

Why does Senpai lose points at the training date?

Even though Nagatoro says this isn’t a date, Senpai feels nervous and close to Nagatoro at the same time. After seeing several pairs holding hands, Nagatoro becomes annoyed with Senpai, saying that he is not doing something he should be doing, causing him to lose points at their practice appointment.

Do Senpai and Nagatoro kiss indirectly?

After running away from Gamo, Yoshi, Hana and Sunomiya, Senpai and Nagatoro stop to get ice cream. He gets vanilla while she gets wasabi. When she offers to let him taste it, Senpai declines, prompting Nagatoro to tease him about his fear of the quintessential romance trope, the “indirect kiss”.

In an attempt to force him to taste it, Senpai accidentally snaps his hand, causing his vanilla bag to crash into her wasabi bag anyway. As they return to their cones, Nagatoro jokes with Senpai and asks how their indirect kiss tastes.

At the end of the date, Nagatoro announces that it’s time to tell Senpai his final score. After declining points for things like fashion, Nagatoro gives him multiple points for things like grabbing her hand and drenching at the dolphin show for her. In the end, Senpai’s total score is 50 out of 1,000 points.

How does Nagatoro describe her date with Senpai?

After being graded by Nagatoro at his practice appointment, Senpai nervously asks if her appointment was good practice for her too. Nagatoro thinks for a moment before telling Senpai that this date was the real deal for her. Senpai then admits that the date was real for him too.

Why is Yoshi stopping Gamo from interrupting Senpai and Nagatoro?

When Yoshi and Gamo finally catch up with Nagatoro and Senpai, they run towards them to interrupt their date. However, after seeing them having an intimate conversation on the beach, Yoshi grabs Gamo and stops them, saying they don’t want to “block” their opportunity.

Do Senpai and Nagatoro kiss?

Nagatoro asks Senpai how they should end the date, suggesting a kiss or a hug. Nervously, Senpai chooses the hug option, but before they can hug, the pair overhears Hana and Sunomiya chasing Yoshi and Gamo.

Back at school, Nagatoro gives Gamo and Yoshi the cold shoulder for screwing up their date. However, she eventually relents and invites her to have dinner with her in the art room. There, she catches Hana trying to feed Senpai lunch and becomes jealous before learning it is an apology lunch. When Hana offers to make him lunch for the rest of the week, Nagatoro steps in and says she will. However, Senpai only declines her offer because he wants to bring her lunch instead.

The episode ends with Nagatoro asking Senpai if he would like to finish what they started before the two finally embrace.

I thought a date would be a fitting way to end the season, and in the end it turned out to be the right choice. There was a while where I worried about the show tracking its progress, especially when Nagatoro said it wasn’t a real date. However, Nagatoro said it was a date that later created a sweet romantic moment for the couple that was worth all the back and forth.

Choosing not to let friends mess up the date was better, too. While the episode set up a lot of hilarious scenarios, the focus in the end was on Nagatoro and Senpai and really laid the groundwork for more romantic moments in Season 3.
