Dozens of sheriff’s departments are openly opposing the shocking gun control

A rebellion against a new anti-gun law is spreading across Illinois as several law enforcement agencies issue statements that they will not enforce the law.
On Tuesday, Democratic Governor of Illinois JB Pritzker signed it into law House bill 5471. The bill forbids what Prizker is website Calls for “the sale and distribution of assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and switches in Illinois effective immediately.”

A pushback was not long in coming. Jim Kaitschuk, executive director of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association, said he wrote a statement to allow locations to adjust as they please ABC.
On Friday, ABC estimated that 74 sheriff’s departments, covering 30 percent of the state’s population, had issued statements against the law.

Pritzker hasn’t taken well to the growing trend, according to CBS.
“Sheriffs are hired by the public to enforce the law. They cannot choose which laws they enforce. They have to enforce what we wrote in the code — the general assembly signed by the governor,” Pritzker said. “And they will.”
Attorney General Kwame Raoul said that if rebellious departments don’t comply, “other people are available to do the job.”
