Driffield hosts the Michaelmas Harvest Celebration in late September

Running from Friday 29th September to Sunday 1st October, the ‘Festival’ will feature al fresco dining, live music, comedy performances, children’s entertainment and crafts as well as street food, food stalls and bars.

September 29th is also known as Michaelmas and is often seen as the end of the main harvest season.

The three day event recreates the traditional Michaelmas celebration in Driffield and takes place in Market Place, Mill Street and Cross Hill car park.

Cllr Anne Handley, Chairwoman of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “This is a great opportunity to showcase this part of Driffield town center as a venue for events like this.”

“I’m urging local businesses to get involved and I’m sure many people from Driffield and beyond will be stopping by for a weekend of fun as the nights slowly fall.”

The City Council hopes that local businesses will not only take advantage of the opportunity to have a stand at a discounted rate, but will also run promotions related to the event or extend their opening hours throughout the three days.
