Duke Blue Devils betting analysis

The Duke Blue Devils have been firing on all cylinders in their last eight games, winning by averaging 12.8 points. On Friday night, they held a slim lead for most of the second half before ending the game late. Kyle Filipowski led the team with 17 points, but a balanced score was key to their victory. The top four scorers on Duke were freshmen.

They benefited as Miami power forward Norchad Omier lost after just over a minute with an ankle injury. In Duke’s last two games, they’ve scored more points than in their previous ten games (season-high 96 vs Pittsburgh) and 85 vs Miami. Nine of the Blue Devils’ last ten contests have resulted in them exceeding the listed 123 total for this matchup, including their 69-62 OT loss to Virginia on Feb. 11.

Virginia Cavaliers betting analysis

The Virginia Cavaliers barely worked a sweat against Clemson to advance to the finals. They won by a 20-point margin, which was their widest margin in a game since late December. Jayden Gardner had game bests with 23 points and 12 rebounds. They have won their last two games without the services of Ben Vander Plas, who sustained a broken hand at the end of the season last Saturday.

In her previous fight, Virginia won in OT by shooting 52% as a team, which was far better than Duke’s 45% clip. However, these two teams are very close as they have both played four games each in their last eight meetings dating back to 2018. Despite being the higher-seeded team, Virginia still finds itself an underdog in this game. Her last ACC title came in 2018, a year before Duke’s last.

Duke vs Virginia Prediction

Duke has been pushing hard, winning eight straight games while their opponents have their own four-game streak. Their most recent loss was to the Cavaliers, although that game drew controversy when the umpire admitted after the game that Kyle Filipowski should have gone to the free-throw line at the end of regulation, where the Blue Devils might have won.

The Blue Devils have racked up a ton of points in recent affairs, and Virginia did the same against Clemson. Exceeding the 123 total is the smart play, with Duke squeaking out a win as redemption.

Tip: Duke Moneyline (-130), over 123 points (-110)
