Dustin Johnson hints he sustained back injury in bedroom

ROCHESTER, NY – Not all back injuries are created equal. Some can be caused by playing professional sports. Others can be caused by something as simple as reaching for a seat belt. Dustin Johnson blamed his slow start to the season to a back injury earlier in the year and said the cause was, well, we should probably let him explain.

“What have you done to your back?” asked a reporter.

“I just pulled a muscle in my lower back,” Johnson said.

“Swing a bat or pick up a kid?” The reporter followed.

“Yes, I’m lifting a kid, just a bigger kid,” Johnson said with a big smile.

The two-time major champion’s response had the PGA Championship media searching for words after the laughter died down. The pretty strong guess is that Johnson injured his back in the bedroom and not on the golf course. Johnson is, of course, married to Wayne Gretzky’s daughter, Paulina, who frequently follows Johnson at golf tournaments and throughout social media.

Johnson explained that the injury was sustained in front of the Saudi International in February.

“I didn’t hit balls for a couple of weeks until just before playing Mexico,” he said. “It just took me a while to come back, find the right patterns and just get my body into the right movement. I’ve developed some bad habits and it’s just golf; Things happen.”

Johnson reached his second major championship of the season on fine form, earning a win at LIV Tulsa, his first win of the season and second of his LIV career.
