Northern Echo readers have shared their favorite shops in the North East, with a range of offerings from quaint cafes to handy dog-boarding services winning high praise.

Darlington-based The Hoptimist, a popular local beer house, has been highlighted by several readers for its exceptional customer service.

“The Hoptimist Bar is fantastic and the staff do their best,” enthused Greg Smith, echoing similar sentiments from other respondents.

Mi Puptisserie, presumably a bakery for our four-legged friends, also received a shout-out, as did Luxury Pads for Paws, a dog grooming service.

Top fan Lesley White praised The Green Tree in Tudhoe Village, praising both the great staff and the delicious food.

Similarly, Window to the Womb Darlington, a baby scanning service, was recommended by Natalie Jackson.

When it comes to self-care, Sarah Ansbro’s Luxury Pads for Paws and Tracy Grainger’s The Nail House emerged as top picks.

B-Beau Beauty also received a nod from Laura Richardson.

When asked about their favorite place, Julie Burnham suggested Savory Café, while Peter Aydon praised Daisy Rose Coffee Shop in Belmont for its beautiful bakery.

Trina Trig Peairs-approved West Auckland community support service The Well has been recognized for its commendable work.

“The Well in West Auckland is fully here to help the community,” she wrote.

The region’s diverse gourmet offering also received applause: Emma Bennett expressed her love for Emma’s Cheesecakes and foodies Julie Henderson and Becka Allen raved about SALT and CuriosiTeas Play Cafe, respectively.

Enthusiast Andrea Lane praised AJ Grabaway as “100% the best in the North East”, while Neal Gray loved Hydes Bar in Norton.

Given the region’s rich brewing tradition, it’s no surprise that several readers spotlighted local breweries.

“George Samuel Brewery Ltd and McColl’s Brewery quench our thirst with delicious beers and the canteen serving our delicious weekend breakfasts,” shared Amanda Scaife.

Beauty services such as High Brow Bar, recognized by Sara Hardy, and Charlton’s Florist, praised by Karen Turner, also found a place on the list.

For retail therapy, several readers recommended Cupcake Boutique Cake Store and Wild Child UK, among others.

Not to be outdone are the various craft businesses such as the tried and tested company ARG Coatings and those run by Nikita Whotton and Stanley F.
