Emmerdale putting Al and Chas together is actually a great idea

Emmerdale character Al has had an off-and-on feud with the Dingle family over the past year.

Though Al and the Dingles seemed to have ended their feud, it was clear he would never be the family’s best friend.

However, now it looks like he’s headed for a full blown affair with Chas Dingle, but is that the best idea?

Emmerdale: Why getting Al and Chas together is a great idea

Yes, bringing Chas and Al together is a great idea.

Over the past year and a half, Al and the Dingles have developed a major feud.

Al and Chas became close in late 2020 and she even tried to kiss him.

He was dating Priya at the time and disliked Chas, but then the Dingles found out which resulted in them disliking Al.

It was then revealed that he cheated on Priya with Cain’s daughter Debbie.

This obviously caused a lot of tension between Al and the legendary Emmerdale family.

Last year, Al made matters worse when he tried to get Chas to sell the Woolpack. But when things didn’t go to plan, he blew it up.

So, over time, we’ve seen this feud begin to grow.

A few months ago, Al saved Cain’s life after a car accident, and while they’re not exactly best friends, the feud has cooled.

Now I know that many Emmerdale viewers might be wondering why they put Al and Chas together, and there’s only one answer – it would cause absolute chaos.

I’ve been saying for a long time that Emmerdale must have a big affair storyline.

Something that would shock the villagers and cause a lot of consequences.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like Al or Chas, but getting them together for an affair is awesome.

When (or should I say when) the truth comes out, things get crazy.

Cain would have trouble forgiving Chas for dating Al – especially after what he did to Debbie.

Paddy would be heartbroken and Belle, doing business with Al, would be in a difficult situation.

An affair plot can become a lot if done right.

Find someone new for Paddy

If Paddy found out what Chas was up to, that would also give him a chance to break free from her.

Chas is a terrible person and she never treated Paddy properly.

This story means that Paddy has a good reason to leave the terrible Chas and be with someone who is really nice to him. He’s a good person and deserves better.

Also thought I’d add that Al and Kerry have NO chemistry. Their relationship feels very random and one-sided, so they could use a dramatic breakup.

Kudos to Michael Wildman and Lucy Pargeter

As always, I want to end my articles on a positive note. While I don’t like Al or Chas as characters, I think Michael Wildman and Lucy Pargeter do a great job.

If an actor can make an audience hate a character, it’s clear they’re doing their job right.

I hope their secret romance won’t be revealed too soon. I would love to see it set up and maybe put on display for the anniversary or even the Christmas season.

We need the reveal as dramatic as Max and Stacey did in EastEnders.
