Do Energy Drinks Cause Hair Loss?

Beijing’s Tsinghua University recently conducted a survey with a sample size of 1,000 men between the ages of 18 and 45 to find out whether sugary energy drinks cause hair loss in men.

The study included not only energy drinks, but also numerous other sugary drinks, such as sports drinks, soft drinks, sweet tea and more.

Some participants were reportedly even instructed to drink Chocolates by Ferrero Rocher and Snickers, which have been melted and mixed with liqueur.

10play.com.au reported that there were participants over a period of four months “Have to drink between one and three liters of sugary drinks every week.”

So have scientists discovered a connection between? Energy drinks, sugary drinksand hair loss in men?

Apparently they really did, and a significant one at that.

“The men involved in the study had to drink between one and three liters of the sugary beverages every week, and in conclusion, the scientists found that these men had a 42 percent higher risk of hair loss.”

This is near a 50% higher risk of hair loss in men who regularly consume energy drinks and other sugary elixirs.

How many energy drinks is three liters?

Three liters is equivalent to about six bottles of water, or about 100 ounces.

Monster Energy Drinks come in 16 oz. and 24 ounces. Cans, so if you drink four 24 ounces. doses in a day comes just below the three-liter constant used in the study.

Throw in a soft drink or two and a glass of sweet tea, and you’ve easily hit the three-liter mark.

The study shows that not only can energy drinks contribute to hair loss, but also the other sugary drinks included in the study.

If you only have one or two sugary drinks a day, it probably shouldn’t be contributing to or causing any of the hair loss problems you may be dealing with.

However, exceeding the limits of daily consumption could certainly contribute to hair loss problems, according to the study.

Everything in moderation here, too, right?
