Gareth Southgate has opted for the Ettifaq midfielder in the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mason Mount.

Henderson’s long-term future with the national team was thrown into doubt by his move to Saudi Arabia. Southgate said he will have to assess the midfielder as the season progresses but he joins Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice in midfield.
In the absence of Luke Shaw and John Stones, both of whom are out through injury, Southgate has also made changes to their usual back four, with Levi Colwill, Fikayo Tomori and Brighton’s Lewis dunk losing to Marc Guehi by a spot alongside Harry Maguire in centre-back.
Ben Chilwell is making his first appearance at left-back since beating Ukraine 2-0 at Wembley in the second leg in March.
Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka have both of the three sports up front, while Marcus Rashford, Phil Foden and Eberechi Eze are on the bench and Tottenham’s in-form Maddison is in the starting XI.
