Eric and Donald Trump Nailed With $250 Million Fraud Suit After Allegedly Spending Weeks Dodging NY AG

Attorney General of New York last month Letizia James announced a sprawling lawsuit against it donald trump, his three eldest children and the Trump Organization, who accuses them of being involved in “harrowing” fraud and raking in hundreds of millions in ill-gotten gains for more than a decade. But as is the case with normal, small court cases that have nothing to do with a former President of the United States, the parties in this case had to be officially “served.” And because Trump is a fraud in every sense of the word, he apparently figured he could sidestep the long arm of the law by simply ignoring the people trying to deliver the lawsuit. What worked for him – until it didn’t work.

Business Insider reports that Trump was officially served with the 220-page lawsuit Thursday, as was his weasel-like son Eric, according to a filing from James’ office filed Monday. According to the Attorney General, the ex-President’s lawyer Alina Habba and clifford robert, an attorney for Eric, never responded to emails — originally sent on April 21. And if you’re wondering if it’s common for legal representatives to dodge lawsuits on behalf of their clients, it’s not. As Insider notes, “Attorneys for all other defendants in the lawsuit, including Ivanka Trump and donald trump jr, had … accepted the service quickly.”

The father and son’s efforts to avoid the lawsuit prompted the AG’s office to charge the Trump camp with “gimmicking” in court. (Which is straight out of Trump’s textbook on using delaying tactics to derail investigations, litigation and criminal cases.) And on Thursday, Judges Arthur Engoron approved a court order motion from James and ruled that all the AG had to do in the face of the other side’s bullshit was email the papers to the attorneys, which they did later that day.

In related news, last week the attorney general’s office filed a request for an injunction to stop the Trump Organization from moving assets to a new company it conveniently founded in Delaware just days before the fraud lawsuit was announced. While attorneys for the Trump Organization insisted to James that the company failed to do so to avoid the consequences of their lawsuit – which could result in Trump and the Trump Organization being barred from acquiring commercial real estate in New York for five years and Trump and his three children were banned from running businesses in the state – she was apparently far from convinced.

“Our investigation has uncovered the fact that Donald Trump and the Trump Organization committed substantial fraud to inflate billions of dollars in personal wealth to his personal wealth for illegal enrichment and to defraud the system,” James said in a statement. “Since we filed this full-scale lawsuit last month, Donald Trump and the Trump Organization have continued the same fraudulent practices and taken steps to evade accountability. Today we seek an immediate halt to these actions because Mr. Trump should not play by any other rules.”

You’ll never believe it, but it seems Donald Trump has a history of mistreating top secret documents, lying about them, etc.
