The Minecraft 1.20 update was announced on October 15th during Mojang’s live show where they introduced new bamboo blocks. This has been confirmed for the next update as their development is complete. Millions of players rejoiced that another species of wood was added to the game, which produces a completely different plant.
Bamboo has been around for a long time and is used in a variety of ways. However, with the Minecraft 1.20 update, they can also be used to create these new blocks. Mojang talked all about the new blocks in their live show and how it was conceived and created.
Minecraft 1.20 update: Different types of bamboo blocks
During the announcement of update 1.20 in the live show, the developers presented a new type of wood, bamboo. These new blocks are slightly yellowish and look like stripped bamboo tightly clustered.
As mentioned by the developers, they fall under the category of wood species. Therefore, bamboo blocks, fences, trapdoors, doors, slabs, and stairs will be included in the Minecraft 1.20 update.
A new Mosaic Bamboo block will also be added to the set, along with regular wooden blocks. It will have horizontal and vertical bamboo designs and will prove to be a great decorative building block. This can also be converted into stairs and slabs.
Unfortunately, Mojang didn’t mention anything about crafting recipes for these blocks. They will reveal more and more information and details about them over time.
As with all wooden block sets, the new bamboo block set has a special type of boat that players can build. These are called “rafts” and look very different from regular boats.
For starters, they have no side railings, which keeps the seating area completely flat. It basically consists of long, striped bamboo tied together. Raft oars also look a bit different than regular boat oars.
Although the raft will have the same movement speeds and mechanics as a regular boat, they look completely different. Players can also craft a raft with a chest or place any entity in the back.
When can we play with bamboo blocks?
Fortunately, Mojang announced that they would be releasing a new Minecraft 1.20 update snapshot in just a few days. Players will soon be able to explore all new features, including bamboo blocks.
They’ve notably reduced the number of features shown in the live show to give players a chance to explore them sooner. The hosts also reassured fans that they would continue to roll out new features as they get finished and ready.
