F1: Austrian Grand Prix signs new deal to host races through 2027

Racing at the Red Bull Ring – which returned to the Formula 1 schedule in 2014 after ten years – has become synonymous with overwhelming support for world champion Max Verstappen.

Last year, 60,000 Dutch fans traveled from the Netherlands to support the two-time world champion.

This year’s race, which takes place on July 2nd, is sold out and more than 300,000 fans are expected over the weekend.

The Spielberg venue will also host a sprint race – one of six planned this season.

Last year’s event was marred by claims that fans faced racial and homophobic abuse and sexual harassment.

Lewis Hamilton said he was “disgusted and disappointed” by the allegations, while F1 bosses launched an investigation and called the reports “completely unacceptable”.
