Faith Hill & Tim McGraw Get Emotional Hearing Kevin Costner Discuss John Dutton’s Late Wife

Who cuts onions?

In the interviews I’ve seen under the characters of both yellowstone and 1883, It’s easy to see that the roles the actors play leave a deep impression on them, almost as if a part of them belongs to their character.

We’ve seen this over and over again, from Kevin Costner to Tim McGraw to Faith Hill to Kelly Reilly and so many others.

Costner, McGraw and Hill recently sat down for an interview meeting to discuss the connections yellowstone and 1883and how their character influenced each and every one of them.

That being said, perhaps the most intriguing part of the entire interview is when Kevin Costner talks about being a dad yellowstoneand how, at the end of the day, he believes things would have been very different at the ranch if John Dutton’s wife had never died when Beth, Kayce, and Jamie were young.

He explains:

“You know, our dads never think we’re fast enough, that we work long enough or do those things, but the facts of the script are, you know, 40 years ago when you grew up on the farm, you’re up stayed on the farm .

And for five generations, people knew what their task would be.

You know, my kids could look at the TV and see Paris, that’s where Beth wants to go. And in the end, the country will probably be more important to Beth than anyone else… different generations behave differently, but my character went to Vietnam.

And I’m not Dorothy from Kansas, but there’s no place like home. This place marks him.

He knows his smells, I wrote a song about my wife that I’ve never had a scene with, but I can play it and it kind of informs me where I need to be when I hear it. It’s no different than any other man in understanding the love of his life, and I know that… I know things would be different on my ranch if my wife (on the show) were alive.

I know she would know how to handle our children without changing the spirit of her personality, but she would have been able to do the things I can’t or don’t know how. ”

Once Costner brings up the part about the death of John’s wife and how things would have been different if she hadn’t died, you can see the emotion on Faith Hill’s face as she starts to cry.

Faith Hill responds:

“You just made me cry, stop it.”

And you can even see Tim getting a little bleary-eyed.

Keep in mind that this is essentially a character who doesn’t even appear on the show, and we don’t even know everything the much about their backstory.

It’s just further proof of how committed these actors are to perfecting their craft and becoming a part of their characters.

Yellowstone season 5 will premiere on Paramount Network this fall on November 13th.

The cast also recently met for an in-depth chat on what fans can expect in Season 5, how far the show has come, how it’s gained new fans since the show premiered, and more. Faith Hill & Tim McGraw Get Emotional Hearing Kevin Costner Discuss John Dutton’s Late Wife
