Faithfully Yours Review – A general mystery thriller that had the potential to get better

When it comes to cheeky thrillers Netflix knows how to deliver. Even if most of their series or films are generic and perfectly conform to convention, these projects are self-confident. That’s exactly why these risqué thrillers do so well.

Faithfully Yours review and plot synopsis

With kindest regards Everyone lies to each other about the unexpected predicament the characters find themselves in.

In With kindest regards, two best friends, Bodil (Bracha van Doesburgh) and Isabel (Elise Schaap), who appear to be happily married, sneak off into secret affairs and use each other as cover. But when something unfortunate happens when they’re supposed to be together, Bodil gets caught up in her own web of lies.

You may think you know someone, but you really don’t. There are many people out there who don’t show their true selves, mainly for reasons of protection or to do what they want.

Some people can be so manipulative that they can disguise two different lives, and that’s scary.

It’s interesting to see which characters in the web lies are stronger than others and which ones break down. There are also pawns in the mix who end up getting hurt. There are many twists and turns that will keep you in the dark the entire time.

Is Faithfully Yours good or bad?

The only good thing about this film is that the viewer gets to know the two friends as unlikeable characters, and that’s what makes them so intriguing. Knowing that they are hiding part of their lives from their significant others makes this exciting in itself.

As with any mystery thriller, you, the viewer, are naturally involved in solving the mystery. director Andre van Duren while providing a solid mystery, it also falls into the general realm.

It sits right in the middle of what makes a good or bad thriller. They use similar conventions but never take it a step further to make it more than what the genre normally consists of. It could have been bloodier or sexier, but it just stayed safe.

Is Faithfully Yours worth watching?

The reason why With kindest regards is worth watching for all the deception. The twists are pretty well placed throughout the movie and everyone is a suspect.

While the story may seem a bit generic at times, it’s still good enough to keep you interested. The way van Duren uncovers the layers of this mystery is a bit slow even for the short running time.

The audience can learn that there are different forms of lying in this film and that it is better to be aware of them. People can lie in a big way and not get caught, but it’s the little lies that can add up and cause trouble.
