A Buffalo Bills fan’s excitement erupted ahead of the team’s home opener against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Erie County Sheriff’s Office officials told that Buffalo Newsthat in the run-up to the 1 p.m. launch, a 29-year-old man told police he had taken drugs, gone into a portable toilet and emerged covered in excrement before climbing over a fence and falling naked into a construction pit – the future home of the new Buffalo Bills stadium.

The man, whose name was not released, was charged with trespassing. According to police, he suffered cuts, including one to his forehead, and was taken to the hospital.

At 12:18 p.m., police received a report of a man in distress from security forces in charge of the area outside the construction site.

When security personnel approached the man, he ran towards the construction site and climbed over the fence.

Once at the construction site, he ran and fell down one level of the pit, police said. Then he got up, ran, and fell again, this time to the bottom of the pit.

Sheriff John Garcia said a police helicopter team spotted the man in the pit giving a “peace sign” with one hand and making an obscene gesture with the other.

The entire incident, including his rescue, took about 20 minutes, Garcia added.

The man told officers he was under the influence of LSD, marijuana and cocaine.

According to police, the man appeared to be part of a group that “abandoned” him as they crowded into the stadium.
