Fans go crazy as NFL confirms Rihanna headlining Super Bowl 2023 half-time performance

During the early Sunday games, the NFL released big news. Music icon Rihanna will perform at the next Super Bowl halftime show.

After last year’s performance, which was dubbed one of the best of all time, featuring the likes of Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna is now the latest icon to be called up for what many believe is the biggest sporting event on the calendar.

As expected, NFL fans shared their thoughts when the news broke. Murjani Rawls, a senior writer and critic for Substream Magazine, posted that it would be good if the singer released her latest album after her halftime stint.

“What would be dope if Rihanna released a new album right after the Super Bowl ended.”

Other NFL fans took to social media to offer their thoughts on the latest news regarding the Super Bowl halftime show.

@NFLonFOX @rihanna @NFL This definitely means that her new album will be out soon. If she really had too much performance and music as a whole, then why did she accept this gig? This is literally THE moment to drop music and capitalize on the streams that come after the performance! Bring it on sister! We have waited!

@AdamSchefter That would have been a bigger deal about 10 years ago.

From most fans’ tweets, this appears to be a stellar pick from the NFL, and there is hope that the show will eclipse last season’s.

The famous singer joins a long list of incredible performers to have performed at the NFL’s flagship event over the years. The likes of Shakira and Jennifer Lopez (2020), Maroon 5 and Travis Scott (2019), Justin Timberlake (2018) and Lady Gaga (2017) are just a few of the A-list performers to have graced the halftime show in recent years.

There have been rumors that Taylor Swift could be the headline act for the NFL on February 12 at State Farm Stadium in Arizona. But it’s the 34-year-old star with nine Grammys to her name who got the nod.

While the game itself draws millions and millions from around the world, many people tune in just to watch the halftime show. Last year Sofi Stadium rocked with celebrities like LeBron James dancing in the stands.

While many still think this upcoming show won’t quite match last year’s incredible heights, there are still some other artists who could join Rihanna on stage as guests.

No one knows yet who that will be, but the headliner has been announced and was well received.
