The first celebrity chef announced for Saturday’s cooking phase is MasterChef 2023 Champion Eddie Scott.

Eddie overcame stiff competition to fulfill his lifelong cooking dream of becoming MasterChef UK Champion where he could showcase his signature style.

Eddie grew up in a family that loved to cook good food. Childhood summer vacations were spent traveling around France and it was on these adventures that Eddie fell in love with classic regional French cuisine.

Eddie’s cuisine is also inspired by his family’s Indian Punjabi heritage.

Eddie will be joined by Syabira Yusoff, winner of the 2022 Great British Bake Off on Saturday.

During her time in the tent, Syabira surprised and delighted the jury with her unusual flavor combinations and imaginative baked goods.

Syabira moved to the UK from Malaysia ten years ago to do a PhD in genetics and genomic biology at the University of Leicester.

Her experience as a researcher and her scientific knowledge help her to understand the physics and chemistry of baking. She loves to experiment in the kitchen and try the most exciting flavor combinations.

And for budding vegan bakers, Freya Cox will also enter the cooking stage.

21-year-old Freya has a passion for vegan baking, which she demonstrated as the first vegan competitor at the Great British Bake Off last year.

She has dreamed of entering the tent since season one and hopes to show the British public that delicious plant-based baking is possible.

Her first recipe book “Simply Vegan Baking” was published last year and shows that vegan baking can be just as delicious, if not more delicious, than “normal” baking.

They will be joined by crowd favorite and TV presenter Chris Bavin, who is returning as presenter.

Chris is co-host of the popular BBC One series Eat Well for Less? alongside Jordan Banjo and is a regular on The One Show.

He also presented Tomorrow’s Food with Dara O’Brian and Food: Truth or Scare with Gloria Hunniford and was a judge on Britain’s Best Home Cook with Mary Berry.

The Seaham Food Festival is just one of the many cultural events taking place in County Durham this year. It cements Durham’s position as a ‘cultural district’ and demonstrates the district council’s continued commitment to culturally-enabled renewal.
