During the New York Yankees’ Old-Timers’ Day, Wells voiced his hatred of Nike and Bud Light for their position in the current culture wars.
“We’re in a different world,” Wells, 60, said, according to The Athletic. “It’s annoying. That’s why everyone should carry a gun.”
Wells also said that if he were to play today, he would rather cut a hole in his jersey to remove the Nike logo than wear it on the field. “I hate Nike!” he said. “You’re awake!”
He also taped over the logo for Saturday’s celebration at Yankee Stadium.
And if you’re thinking the boisterous left-hander relaxing with an ice-cold Bud Light while watching a game, he had a very quick reply: “Nope!”

Wells also ripped into the current culture in the MLB, which he said coddles players too much.
“It always seems like the (GMs), the managers and all of that gets fired and blamed, and it’s the (blame) of the players,” Wells said.
“If you weren’t doing the job in the field and I was a GM, I would start sending a message.”
Wells continued, saying teams needed to be tougher on players who didn’t live up to their big contracts.
“I don’t care who it was if he was in the stinking hole – pardon my French if you can say that now. I don’t know. But send this guy to Triple-A or Double-A and send him a wake-up call,” Wells said.
“You did it to me. They did that to a lot of us back then. You have to send a message. I don’t care how much money you make.
