Former veteran York City forward is next to join Farsley Celtic
Donaldson played for York in two separate spells, making 118 appearances and scoring 49 goals during his time with the Minstermen.
The 39-year-old was part of the City side promoted from the National League North in the 2021/22 season before joining Gainsborough Trinity.
His new side missed out on promotion after suffering defeat in the Northern Premier League play-off semi-finals and announced he was leaving the club after scoring 22 goals in 38 games.
Donaldson has now joined Farsley, who parted ways with former York manager Russ Wilcox earlier in the week.
Commenting on Donaldson’s signing, Farsley club director Pav Singh said: “Clayton is a player we’ve had our eyes on for some time and his presence on the pitch will bring something completely new to our game.”
“This is an extremely exciting signing for the club and a signal of intent of what we aim to achieve this season.”
Chief Executive Paul Barthorpe also had his say, saying: “Clayton is a top-flight professional and has played at the highest level for many years.
“Not only does he bring his fantastic ability on the pitch, but also his character off the pitch.
“He is also a top coach and will be of great use to the club both on and off the pitch!”
“His goal record over the last few years is great and will give us a whole new dimension on the pitch! Which will make Clayton a fan favorite in no time!”
