Four train passengers from York and North Yorkshire are fined for fare evasion
Nathan Garbutt-Moore, 37, from Greengate, Malton, has been fined £464.70 after evading payment for a £6.70 train ticket between Wakefield and Barnsley. He was convicted of fare evasion and had to pay a fine of £220, a statutory surcharge of £88, prosecution costs of £150 and compensation of £6.70 to the railway company.
Beth Pugh, 22, of York Road, Holgate, has been fined £478.90 after being convicted of dodging a £20.90 fare between York and Scarborough. She must pay a fine of £220, a statutory surcharge of £88, £150 prosecution costs and £20.90 compensation to the railway company.
James Wray, 30, of James Backhouse Place, Acomb, has been fined £475.60 after being convicted of evading his £17.60 York to Leeds fare. He must pay a fine of £220, a statutory surcharge of £88, £150 prosecution costs and £17.60 in compensation to the railway company.
Luke Rutters, 27, of Winchester Avenue, Holgate, has been fined £461.50 after being convicted of evading his £3.50 fare from Cross Gates to Leeds. He must pay a fine of £220, a statutory surcharge of £88, £150 prosecution costs and £3.50 compensation to the railway company.
All cases were tried in Doncaster Magistrates Court.
