From Tom Cruise, James Cameron to Glenn Close, the surprise stars skipping the 2023 Oscars

However, Tom Cruise will miss the 2023 Oscars Top Gun: Maverick was nominated for best film.
The Hollywood star was set to miss the biggest night in the film industry on Sunday as he’s filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part II in the UK acc ET.
Cruise has never won an Oscar, and while he wasn’t nominated for Best Actor, Best Picture would be his first.
If the film takes home the award, however, producer Jerry Bruckheimer will accept it Everywhere at once remains favorite to win.
Cruise’s film is also nominated for Screenplay (adapted screenplay), Editing, Sound, Music (Original Song) and Visual Effects.
Glen Powell, who appeared in the film Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin, who plays, will also be absent from tonight’s awards ceremony.
Meanwhile, Glenn Close had to withdraw from presenting at the awards because of a positive Covid test.
The 75-year-old actress was supposed to be present alongside Air Force One Co-star Harrison Ford, 80.

“Yes, she has Covid, and of course she has to retire. She was really looking forward to attending,” said a representative for Close People.
Close has been nominated for an Oscar eight times, while Ford has been nominated once.
James Cameron, the director of Avatar: The Way of Water, wasn’t on the show either.
“You know a show is too long when even Jim Cameron can’t get through it,” joked host Jimmy Kimmel during his monologue.
“Tom and James Cameron didn’t show up, the two men who told us to go to the theater aren’t in the theatre,” he joked.
