Italian Jonathan Di Bella has emerged as one of kickboxing’s most exciting contenders at the age of 26. He will look to show off his talent at ONE 162 as he fights for gold in his promotion debut.
In a video recently posted on the ONE Championship YouTube channel, the man representing both Italy and Canada shares his history of getting into fighting.

Montreal-born Di Bella started training at the age of two and had his first fight when he was just 10 years old. His father, a three-time world champion in kickboxing, had opened his own gym when he was 19, where he trained his own son to become better than him.
While he finds motivation in representing his two countries and trying to bring kickboxing to the masses in North America, Di Bella believes he is destined to be a world champion. It’s a dream he and his father share.
“Winning the title would mean the world to me and I think my father would be very happy, I think it’s one of his dreams to see me as world champion.”
“My dad was a former world kickboxing champion and he trained me to be better than him. Winning a world kickboxing title with ONE would mean the world to both of us.”
He grew up watching the likes of Nieky Holzken and Giorgio Petrosyan compete in ONE Championship. Now he gets the opportunity to realize his dream and become world champion when he meets Zhang Peimian at the vacant ONE Kickboxing World Strawweight Championship on October 21st.
Jonathan Di Bella thinks his opponent Zhang Peimian is ‘number one in the world’
Ahead of their fight for the vacant ONE Kickboxing World Strawweight Championship, Jonathan Di Bella shared his thoughts on his opponent Zhang Peimian.
In the video uploaded to YouTube by ONE Championship, the Italian-Canadian fighter said the following about the “Fighting Rooster”:
“I feel my opponent Zhang is one of the best in the world. I think he’s number one in the world so I’m looking forward to competing with him and looking forward to being at the top.”
Peimian aims to become China’s youngest-ever world champion on October 21 at just 19 years old.
But despite the promise that surrounds Peimian, Di Bella believes he has what it takes to pursue his own dreams and take ONE championship gold when the two men meet.
“The reason I’m going to win this fight is because I’m hungrier, more disciplined and more focused than ever and I can’t wait to shock the world.”
