Greggs and JD Sport are moving to Cleveland Retail Park

A detailed plan for the Cleveland Retail Park has revealed JD Sports and Greggs as the new names of the shopping complex after confirming the units are “on offer”.

On the map, JD Sports is located in the former Argos store, while Greggs is listed in the former Frankie & Benny’s restaurant.

The former Argos site in the retail park off Trunk Road in Middlesbrough has been vacant since Argos closed last year.

With plans now revealed, JD Sport, which sells sportswear, shoes, trainers and designer clothes, is expected to open another offering in the North East, having already opened stores in Darlington, Durham, Newcastle, Redcar and Teesside Park, Stockton, Hartlepool and several other locations.

The Argos store at Cleveland Retail Park closed in June 2022 after only opening in October 2020.

The store has remained closed since then.

Elsewhere, part of the former Frankie and Benny’s restaurant is earmarked for bakery chain Greggs.
