Grizzly Bear Easily Flips Over 1,500-Lb. Bison While Vultures Look On In Jealousy

If you’ve ever wondered how strong a grizzly bear is, look no further.

To put things in perspective, the average weight of a male American bison is between 1,000 and 2,200 pounds, with females averaging between 790 and 1,200 pounds.

Despite being enormously large, they typically feed solely on vegetation, making bison easy prey for predators such as bears and packs of wolves…

And in this video, you can see how a grizzly bear in Yellowstone National Park claims a dead bull bison with ease, as it only takes a few tugs to completely turn the carcass over so it can feed on the giant creature’s other side.

The footage shows a number of vultures perched around the carcass, and obviously the birds don’t get a chance to reclaim their food from the hungry grizzly bear, but they may have an opportunity to munch on the leftovers.

Apparently, the dead bison bull was hit by a vehicle, seriously injured and died.

The caption tells the whole story:

“Apparently the bison bull was hit by a vehicle and injured. He made it across the Yellowstone River and died on the slope east of the river. This grizzly bear found the carcass and began feeding on it.

In this video, he turns the carcass over so he can access the animal’s abdominal area. It is this part of the animal that carnivores like to eat first.

This male bison can weigh anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 pounds and that shows the amazing strength of the grizzly bear.”

Wild, just imagine what those jaws could do to you…

Have fun on your next hike!

Bison Railroads Fellow Bison, leave him to the pack of wolves

You know that old Tracy Lawrence song “Find Out Who Your Friends Are” with Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney?

Well, this bison found out the hard way that he didn’t have any…

That’s a pretty old video, maybe somewhere up in Canada… I don’t really know, and at the end of the day it really doesn’t matter that much.

Importantly, we have a bison herd that is being attacked by a hungry pack of wolves.

The smaller one has the whole pack on his ass and it doesn’t look good. The whole pack swarms around him, taking bites here and there, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before this young bison becomes lunch for the wolf pack.

But then a much larger, absolute unit of bison tries to help? Or leave the boy for dead… it’s impossible to tell.

As he runs through the pack of wolves AND the other bison, he overwhelms absolutely everyone at the scene and leaves his fellow bison at the mercy of the wolf pack.

When he tried to help, he made things much, much worse…

Anyway, I (and the rest of the internet) laughed way too hard at this.
