However, the recording will differ slightly from standard signs in terms of construction and craftsmanship requirements. For this reason, it might not be a bad idea to keep an eye on the requirements and features of the new signs when the 1.20 update is released next year.

All of the information about the upcoming patch hasn’t been released yet, but there are a few things to learn about hanging signs in particular. These facts are subject to change as the update release date approaches.

According to Minecraft Live 2022, hanging signs are significantly different from standard signs, although they also share some similarities. It is known that they are made from peeled logs and chains. A total of ten different types of wood can be used: oak, spruce, jungle, acacia, dark oak, purple, warped, mangrove and the new type of wood bamboo.

The hanging sign block will have a total of three variants based on its placement. It can hang on the side of a block, hang under a full block, or be under a small block like fences or chains. This makes hanging signs very versatile thanks to the different blocks they can be attached to.

For the most part, they will function similarly to standard shields. Players can enter and display text, including certain hypertexts, on the signs. This likely means that color codes for hanging signs work similarly to ordinary ones. However, the Minecraft Live 2022 trailer also revealed that the upcoming signs will be able to possess glowing text if players place a glowing ink sac on them.

The pending signs can also be attached and placed in different orientations, including diagonally. This should make them more versatile than regular drawing blocks, and their ability to attach to blocks makes them ideal for aspiring in-game Minecraft decorators. There is no doubt that the community will find many different and unique ways to craft decorations using the new character blocks.

Along with camels, bamboo wood, sculpted bookshelves, and new character skins, hanging signs are an intriguing new addition to Minecraft with update 1.20. Mojang will likely reveal more features as the patch’s development cycle progresses, and the signs could include even more features yet to be revealed.

For now, the community just has to wait and see what information the developers will present next. Fortunately, Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft 1.20 will feature new content via the Bedrock Edition beta program, as well as the Java Edition preview snapshots. It shouldn’t be too long before fans of the game can take a more hands-on approach with the new additions to 1.20.
