Harrison Ford was “moved and humbled” to receive the palm of honor at the Cannes Film Festival

Arrison Ford said he was “deeply moved and humbled” to receive the Palme d’Or of Honor at the Cannes Film Festival.
The 80-year-old veteran actor received the award Thursday ahead of the world premiere of his new film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
In the film, Ford returns as a world-travelling archaeologist, more than 40 years after his first appearance in 1981’s Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
It stars Fleabag actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who plays Helena Shaw, Indiana Jones’ goddaughter, and Mads Mikkelsen.
Before the screening, the audience saw a highlight of the actor’s career before taking the stage to introduce the film.
Getting emotional, he said, “They say when you’re about to die you see your life flash before your eyes. And I just saw my life flash before my eyes.
“A big part of my life, but not my whole life.
“My life was made possible by my lovely wife who supports my passion and dreams and I am grateful.”
Addressing the audience directly, he continued, “And I love you too.
“You have given my life meaning and purpose and I am grateful for that. I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to work with others like… Phoebe (Waller-Bridge) and Mads (Mikkelsen).
“I am deeply touched by this honor and feel humbled — but I have a film that must be seen.” So let me get out of the way.”
The fifth part of the Indiana Jones series takes place in the years between “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” (1989) and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”.
The latter film, starring Shia LaBeouf, also had its world premiere in Cannes in 2008.
Other big Hollywood stars have made appearances at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, including Ethan Hawke, Johnny Depp and Dame Helen Mirren.
On Tuesday, the opening day of the festival, Michael Douglas was also awarded the palm of honor – he too became emotional on stage.
