HECK hosts Boob Brunch for CoppaFeel! Fundraiser

REAR! based in Bedale, near the A1, has announced it will be hosting a Boob Brunch at its Yorkshire headquarters this week (October 14) to raise money as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The three-hour event includes a 45-minute yoga session, delicious food and drink, goodie bags and advice from CoppaFeel!’s Boobettes – a group of volunteers diagnosed with breast cancer under the age of 35.

The campaign was launched by HECK! listed. Co-founder Jamie Keeble, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer in his 30s and now hopes employers can support and educate their employees about why it’s important to get tested regularly.

“My diagnosis was a complete shock,” Jamie said.

“I only picked it up because I’m pretty self-aware, but as a younger person I never expected to be told I had cancer. My family and work colleagues were great, but we were all very aware that we had limited knowledge to support other people who may be going through similar experiences.

“Since 80% of our team is female and many are under 30, we have partnered with CoppaFeel! to launch a workplace and wider awareness campaign to encourage everyone to check in regularly and know they are OK.

“It is important to note that 400 men and 2,400 women under the age of 39 are diagnosed with cancer every year. So education is crucial, but if the disease is diagnosed early, it is treatable.”

Besides brunch, HECK! will also display a giant pink bra alongside the HQ logo next to the A1 in the hope that the sign will attract attention.

The company has also launched fundraising packs of Chicken Italia burgers, which will be available at Tesco, Amazon, Ocado, Waitrose and Booths throughout October.

Lucy Jackson, Head of Partnerships at CoppaFeel, said: “We are really grateful for workplaces like HECK! who encourage their employees to have their breasts, pecs or chest examined and are happy that they have chosen to support CoppaFeel! through their limited burger packs.

“With the proceeds from the sale of the burgers we can reach even more young people with our life-saving message. We know how important early diagnosis is – it can save your life.”
