Hugh Grant makes a brutal confession about romcom co-star Drew Barrymore
Hugh Grant didn’t hold back when asked a question about one of his past films.
The actor promoting a new fantasy film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, remembered his time music & lyrics during a new job interview.
The actor co-stars with Drew Barrymore in the rom-com as shabby pop star Alex Fletcher, who is hired to write a chart-topping teen pop star (Haley Bennett).
Barrymore plays Sophie Fisher, the songwriter that Grant’s character works with. Throughout the film, they regularly sing the songs they write, which Grant says requires automatic tuning.
Speak with Wired For a segment in which he answered “the internet’s most searched questions,” Grant was asked, “Does Hugh Grant actually sing along? music & lyrics?”
He replied, “Yes I do, but I’m incredibly autotuned.
“Actually, that’s not true – I’m a bit automatic, but not as much as some,” he continued, saying, “Drew Barrymore was in this film with me and I don’t think she would mind if I did.” I say your singing is just appalling.”
He quipped, “I’ve heard dogs bark better than she sings.”
Grant said Barrymore improved “after they tuned her” and that “she sounded a lot better than me because she’s got heart and voice and rock ‘n’ roll”.
Elsewhere, Grant highlighted a subtle “in joke” seen in the final shot of the 1999 film notting hillwhich he described as “disgusting”.
Grant has been accused of “obnoxious” behavior after a “disastrous” red carpet interview with model Ashley Graham at the Oscars on Sunday (March 12).
Graham later responded to the commotion after being asked about the chat by a TMZ Reporter.
