Hull Road in York has been closed following a road collapse near the Shell workshop

Motorists are being warned of a diversion on Hull Road in York after reports of a hole in the road. The road between Shell Garage and Beeswing Pub is closed this morning (September 12) after the hole was opened on Sunday.

As The Press reported yesterday, First York reports that bus routes 8 and 10 will be rerouted via the University of York.

There were also reports that the diversion affected children at the nearby Archbishop Holgate CE School.

The company advises that Hull Road between Greendykes and Field Lane will not be served.

There is a signed diversion route along Green Dykes Lane, University Road and Field Lane, rejoining Hull Road at the roundabout opposite the Inner Space Station petrol station.

Yorkshire Water says workers are on site trying to resolve the issue.
