Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has shared his prediction for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with West Ham United at Anfield on Wednesday (19 October).
The Reds are struggling this season as they sit eighth in the league table with just three wins in nine games. However, at the weekend they clinched a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield.
West Ham have also won three times in ten games and are 13th in the standings. There was a 1-1 draw in Southampton last weekend.
Sutton reckons Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will comfortably beat David Moyes’ side. In his column for BBC he wrote:
“I’ve had to take a lot of flak from Liverpool fans lately. I love it when fans come out afterwards, like they did after the Manchester City win, and are wise after the event, but then basically admit they were feeling good before, basically the same lines as my prediction.”
“Nevertheless, you were impressed by the way Liverpool played against City, especially the backline, which was excellent. There was a period in the second half where the crowd really got up and supported them and Anfield got back on their feet. “
Sutton has predicted that while the Reds could beat West Ham, they might not keep a clean sheet. He said:
“I think they’re going to continue in the right direction here, helped by the fact that West Ham are so stretched at the back, although I fancy Gianluca Scamacca scoring for the Hammers.”

Jurgen Klopp expects to be on the touchline in Liverpool’s clash with West Ham
In the win against Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp was shown red after protesting an official decision. He could be seen reacting angrily and yelling in the assistant referee’s ears.
However, the German has said he expects to be on the sidelines for West Ham clash as no further trial has taken place so far. He said (via Liverpoolfc.com):
“I think I will be there tomorrow because nothing has really happened yet. I don’t think anything will happen tomorrow, frankly, a few hours before the game.”
Klopp’s suspension will come into effect or be lifted following the FA’s decision, which is likely to be taken after the West Ham clash.
