Former Chelsea footballer Chris Sutton has made his prediction for the Blues’ upcoming Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.
The west London giants are in abysmal form and currently sit 10th in the Premier League table. They went to Fulham for their last league game, where new signing Joao Felix was sent off.
Crystal Palace, on the other hand, were defeated 4-0 by Tottenham Hotspur in their last league game. Patrick Vieira will be hoping his players can turn the tide against the Blues, who are just three points clear after an extra game.
However, Sutton believes his former side will finally find their step and defeat London rivals Palace. He predicted a 2-1 result in favor of Graham Potter’s side.
“Palace is so inconsistent that we’re getting to that stage where I might as well say they’re going to win or lose every time, because if I try to call it based on their previous result or performance, I do it wrong every time,” he wrote in his BBC column.
“I’m talking about this game before Chelsea play Fulham on Thursday night, but I don’t expect Graham Potter’s problems to be gone no matter what happens at Craven Cottage.
“Sometimes it felt like Chelsea made amends by pursuing their transfer strategy under Todd Boehly and obviously that affected their performances on the pitch.
“Chelsea will pay tribute to their late manager Gianluca Vialli, who passed away last week, ahead of this game and it will be an emotional afternoon at Stamford Bridge.
“It was Vialli who signed me for Chelsea and I would love to see them win, just for him.”
Chelsea will want to reverse their three-game losing streak
Potter’s side will enter the Crystal Palace clash after a three-part losing streak. They are now four games without a win after beating Bournemouth in their first Premier League game since the World Cup break.
They drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest before going down against Manchester City in consecutive games, the second of which came in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Blues then lost to Fulham to extend their losing streak to three games they aim to stop against Crystal Palace.
