A cruise ship employee has revealed what life is like for employees on board a cruise ship, including how small his cabin is.
Jack Nolan is a musician who performs onboard Virgin Voyage cruises and shares footage of the ships on Tiktok.
In a recent video, he gave his followers a tour of his private cabin, showing where he relaxes and how much he packs into his single room.
In the video, Jack (@jackcruisesaround) begins by saying his cabin is “so small” that he can “touch almost every wall at once.”
Still, he enjoys the room where he can spend some time alone.
He continued: “It’s my own little space, I have storage in here for all my stuff.
“I’m packing six months of my life into this tiny room and believe me, there’s a lot of stuff you need for a cruise contract.”
Next to a desk area and a sink with running water, Jack shows his TV watching a Premier League game.
He has “a nice selection of TV channels and films,” he says.
The TV also has “cool little LED lights” which are needed at times because it can get very dark in his room.
Jack’s cabin is below on deck two, so it’s “literally under water” and therefore has no windows.
Jack also shows off his small but working shower facilities, which he has to share with other employees, whom he nicknames “Sholet” due to their small size.
Some people were not impressed by what they saw and said they couldn’t live in that room for six months at a time.
One wrote “I’d get claustrophobic”, another said “Deck 2 underwater. That’s a tough pass.”
However, some thought Jack’s room looked quite luxurious, with one saying: “For a fairly large crew cabin, they’re usually like a closet.”
A second added: “You should see single rooms in London, yours is £750 a month.”
Meanwhile, this cruise ship employee revealed the perks and secrets he has access to onboard.
And this cruise director showed the “whole city” aboard the ship he works on.
