If You’re Not Already, Get Listening To The Lowdown Drifters

Some bands have a name that pretty much everyone will recognize without being too familiar with their work.

For me that was the Lowdown Drifters and I’m here to tell you… it’s about time everyone learned.

Because these guys rock.

Formed in Stanwood, Washington, the five-piece band came together through a love of songwriting and have made a name for themselves in the Northwest by touring hard and releasing songs that come from living a fulfilling life and the scars that come with it .

The tagline above the bio on their website sums it up beautifully.

“Last Call for Dreamers”

Tattoo this on my forearm because these guys live and breathe that mentality in all of their songs and live shows.

Her debut album came out in 2016 and featured her most popular song yet, “Fire In Her Eyes,” a kind of siren song about one of those women you know cause a bit of trouble but are just too in love with to care To take care of .

Ever since I first heard this I can’t get enough.

The entire album is fantastic, with “We Three Kings” and “Last Night In Denver” being two other standout tracks for me.

They’ve released a couple of singles since the debut album, including “Alright,” which almost brought me to tears when frontman Big John Cannon heard it sing it acoustically Gordy’s HWY30 Festbut for those who want a new album, the wait is over.

Last Friday The Lowdown Drifters released Chapter 1 of their forthcoming album Cheating On A Memory and spoiler alert, it’s shaping up to be a great album.

It starts with the title track “Cheating On A Memory” which is a rock song, pure and simple. The lyrics go straight to the heart, mixing regret with the anger that comes from knowing what you let go should have been held on to. John’s vocals boom and really drive that anger through you.

“Now I’m cheating on a memory
Make promises I can’t keep
To a ghost trapped inside my head
hold keys to all my dreams
I won’t say I sleep alone
But this house will not be a home
Until I can break the curse that holds me
And stop cheating on a memory”

The second track, “Crazy Pretty Hell”, is my favorite from the first chapter. Written for John’s wife, it lives in the same vein as “Fire In Her Eyes” and talks about an irresistible woman who screws you up but makes you hit the ground all the harder.

The fourth and final track on the EP is titled “Rock N Roll” and tells a beautiful story of growing up, stepping out and pursuing life no matter what comes your way.

‘Cause this is rock ‘n’ roll, baby

Chapter 2 will be available in late July/early August, with the final chapter coming in September. Vinyl and CD pre-orders for the entire project are available now on their website.

If you haven’t heard them yet, get on board.

It can seem difficult at times to find music with something behind it, but every song The Drifters put out carries with it their life experiences, good and bad. If You’re Not Already, Get Listening To The Lowdown Drifters
