Day 10 of the BNP Paribas Open, also known as the Indian Wells Masters, re-enacts a tough Australian Open match we saw just a few months ago. Swiatek and Rybakina will fight each other for a place in the final today.
This year Indian Wells has a historically strong lineup for the semifinals. World No. 1 meets Wimbledon winner and Australian Open finalist in this semi-final match. In the other semi-final match, the Aussie Open winner meets world No. 7 and 2022 Indian Wells Masters finalist.

Can Swiatek repeat?
The 21-year-old has her eyes firmly on the prize as she is just a few wins away from lifting the BNP Paribas Open trophy again this year. If Swiatek wins that match and reaches the final, she will become the first player to reach the Indian Wells finals back-to-back since Maria Sharapova in 2013.
Just last month, Swiatek set an Open-era record for fewest games lost en route to tournament victory. And once again she hasn’t dropped a set here in the desert. Including just 19 lost games in their four games this week.

Swiatek easily defeated her quarterfinal opponent Sorana Cirstea 6:2, 6:3. The Pole didn’t excel, but outplayed her opponent completely, leaving little to no room for her to build momentum.

Can Rybakina defeat Swiatek again?
The 23-year-old hasn’t played her absolute best tennis this week, but she’s playing well. She’s playing well and will go into this semifinal match with some confidence as she beat Swiatek last time they played each other.
Rybakina is always improving! 💫

The Czech has defeated Sofia Kenin, Paula Badosa, Varvara Gracheva and most recently Karolina Muchova to secure a place in the semifinals.
In her quarter-final game, the Wimbledon champion started off strong, but allowed her opponent to make a quick comeback. Rybakina secured the first set but Muchova’s momentum allowed her to win the second to make it interesting. Rybakina ended up winning 7(7)-6(4), 2-6, 6-4 to secure her place in the last four.
Third career meeting
The head-to-head record between Swiatek and Rybakina is 1-1, with Rybakina winning their last clash in straight sets. The two faced each other in the round of 16 of the Australian Open a few months ago. Rybakina became a finalist at the Grand Slam.

Swiatek vs. Rybakina Pick
This will be an exciting semi-final game. One of the best things about watching tennis is that so often there are final Calibar matches before the tournament even reaches the finals. And this is an example of that.
Swiatek was lit throughout the tournament. There wasn’t a single opponent who really challenged her. She has spent little to no time on the pitch so her energy should be pretty high. Rybakina, on the other hand, was tested a few times during the week. She opened her tournament against a strong Kenin and was last distanced against Muchova.
With Swiatek the defending champion here, look for her to avenge the Aussie Open loss to Rybakina and get the win here.
Best Bet: Swiatek 2-0 (-145)
