Ihor Hula takes an early lead in the PPC Winter Main Event

The $500,000 Guaranteed PartyPoker Championship (PPC) Winter Main Event kicked off on Christmas Day with 175 PartyPoker players seated at the tables in the $530 buy-in tournament. When the curtain fell on the day’s events, it was that of Ukraine Ihor Hula who secured the Day 1A chip lead, giving them every chance to grab the lion’s share of the Main Event prize pool.
Hula bagged 11,248,789 chips by the end of the game, becoming the only player to finish with an eight-figure chip stack. Dominykas Jokas took second place with 8,838,498 chips Samuel Vousden (5,968,294), Daniel Custodio (5,599,770) and Gabriel Schroeder (5,466,328) round out the talented top 5.
Others who punched their day 2 tickets and now have at least a min cash guaranteed include Antoine Saut (4,325,095), Alexandre Raymond (2,427,381) and Alexandros Theologis (2.018.216).
We’re delighted that no fewer than 11 satellite winners from Day 1A of the PPC Main Event are making it safely to the business end of this $500,000 affair. Patrick Kucera (5,034,617) and Anthony Weldon (4,340,064) amassed enough chips to finish in the top ten during William Folwell (3,350,179) and Teemu Vornanen (2,846,602) lurk just behind the top ten spots.
Jim Cook (1,643,750), Noah Marco Aaron Frei (1,096,796), Shane White (1,067,048), Soutasay Souvanh (905,475), Shin wha yi (846,779), Graham Ivany (710,925) and Artems Visockis (422,899) are the other satellite winners to watch out for on Day 2 on January 16th.

Hertmann defeats the 8-Max PKO
There was plenty of PPC winter action in the first few days of the festival, but apart from the Main Event, two tournaments stand out for their large prize pools.
The PPC Winter 8-Max PKO was one of them, a $215 buy-in tournament with $70,000 up for grabs. It attracted 272 players including Thomas Boivin, Tom Brook, Matthew Siljander, Jan BednarAnd Pavel Wekslerwho cashed but missed a final table appearance.
Three Danes were present and correct at the nine-handed final table, but Henrik Juncker And Yana Smokotova left the doors early and finished ninth and seventh. The third Danish grinder, Morten Bloch-Thomsennavigated his way to the last two where he faced Brazil Luan Felipe Leonel Hertmann. The one-on-one bout went in Hertmann’s favor and he scooped up a cool $11,979 prize while Bloch-Thomsen took home the consolation prize of $9,340.

Lukiantes grossed nearly $10,000
The $109 buy-in edition of the PPC Winter 8-Max PKO attracted 604 players who fought tooth and nail for their share of the $70,000 prize pool. All but one of the nine finalists saw their investment grow from $109 to four figures. Serhiy Pashenko This player collected $629 for his ninth place finish.
A trio of players who called the UK home made the final table, but like the Danes in the $215 edition of this tournament, none of them managed to win the title. Ghassan Esfahani And Scott Walters in sixth and fifth place each dropped out Benjamin McMenemy to a heads-up match with Mexico-based Grinder Dmitril Lukiantes.
Lukiantes defeated McMenemy heads-up for a total prize of $9,954, allowing the defeated runner-up to top up his PartyPoker bankroll with $7,052.
