Ilhan Omar attacks GOP over Biden documents, doesn’t realize what she actually did

Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar has spent more than four years demonstrating to Americans how wrong a Democrat can be.

Whether it’s their dislike of the police, their willingness to baseless attacks on Christians, or the thinly veiled anti-Semitism that fuels their anti-Israel positions, Omar is a kind of walking caricature of the worst of democratic excesses.

But their response to the classified documents controversy currently surrounding President Joe Biden is in a class of its own.

In an appearance Saturday on MSNBC (of course), Omar said Republicans were simply using the revelations of Biden’s cavalier handling of classified information as a “political game.”

First, Omar said she was “glad” that a special counsel was appointed to examine the Biden documents. (The liberal website Mediaite has the video here.)

“Because any time there’s a discrepancy in terms of safety protocols that should be taken seriously, it should be investigated,” she said.

Then Omar went on the offensive, invoking, as Democrats compulsively do with all things, former President Donald Trump.

“What I find interesting is that Republicans who have defended Trump after he literally stole classified documents, refused to release them, lied about having them, made up a story about how he released them, for it who had to have searched his home to find documents are now only interested in investigating Biden, who cooperated, whose own employees and former employees turned in those documents themselves,” she said.

“So you have to understand it, right? Republicans aren’t really interested in following the law, following safety protocols. What interests them is playing a political game and all they want now is to investigate Biden.”

Will more secret documents in Biden’s possession emerge?

The documents, which are the subject of Trump’s current dispute with the National Archives and Records Administration (and an unprecedented FBI raid in August), were not “literally stolen,” even by Biden appallingly ignorant interpretation of the word “literally”.

True, they are the subject of a difference of opinion. And Trump could be on the losing side of this disagreement, but “literally stolen” is nowhere near the legal conclusion of the case.

As for Trump making up a story about declassifying the documents? The reality is that Trump held the presidency of the United States and therefore had the power to unleash anything he wanted.

The documents in the Biden case related to the time when Biden was vice president — and had no such power.

Democrats, Omar hinted, only care about what is right and fair when it comes to their investigations. Any American who’s lived through the past five years—even the kind of American who might watch MSNBC on a weekend afternoon—knows that’s utterly backward.

McCarthy gets revenge on Dems for kicking Gosar and MTG off the committees; Omar, Ship, Pay Swalwell

Since Trump’s unlikely upset of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, Democrats have focused solely on using every trick at their disposal, every deception, in a “political game” against the president-elect, then the president, now the former president.

Remember, the FBI hatched their sham case against Trump before the election. Immediately after the election, the “Russa collusion” swindle picked up steam with the appointment of a special counsel who ate up taxpayer dollars and precious Trump presidency time.

Trump’s impeachment has been a foregone conclusion since the Democrats took control of Congress at the 2018 midterms.

When the “Russia collusion” flared up, it was Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Salenskyy about an investigation into the Biden family and their apparently suspicious ties to Ukraine. (The fact that every piece of evidence that comes to light about Hunter Biden’s global grifting seems to lend more credence to Trump’s suspicions only makes Omar’s testimony even more backward.)

Remember, this is the same political party whose last presidential nominee epitomized disregard for the rule of law and, as Omar put it, “deviation from security protocols.”

Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server – the incredible situation in which an American Secretary of State, the nation’s chief diplomat with all the secrets that entail – literally (literally) who runs her office by carrying official correspondence outside of the American government’s safety net.

Not only was she not punished, she was nearly rewarded with the highest office in the country — a position she almost certainly would have won had the GOP led a candidate other than Trump against her.

And the Democrats accepted their disregard for the law and disregard for national security implications.

Americans who follow the news even casually know this. Even Americans who watch MSNBC know this, which means whatever Omar’s testimony really does draw more attention to how lax those in power in her own party actually are when it comes to “deviations from security protocol.”

Which puts Omar’s pathetic attitude in a class of his own. She obviously thought it was time for a takedown.

And obviously she thought MSNBC was the right place for it.

But if she thought what she was doing was describing how the GOP worked, it’s fair to wonder which country Omar has lived in for the past five years.

Omar himself may not realize it, but as an attack on Republicans and as a defense of Democrats, it backfired spectacularly. Ilhan Omar attacks GOP over Biden documents, doesn’t realize what she actually did
