A home decor queen has shared her trick for turning artificial plants into the centerpiece of any room.

Buying artificial plants can add life to a space, but making it look real can be a bit of a chore.

Luckily, TikTok user Amy E. Peters found a way around the potential pitfalls of artificial greenery in the home.

“Get a bigger pot,” she first told viewers, as she was seen in the background placing one she got from Pottery Barn in the corner of a cream-colored room.

She then took an old white bucket and placed it upside down in the vase before inserting an artificial olive tree from Décors Véronneau in the gap. While getting a bucket, Amy also suggested putting a large vase in the pot.

“Fill gaps with bubble wrap, newspaper, etc. I also like to add an old towel to keep the plant from shifting,” she continued while demonstrating the steps in the clip.

She continued, “Cut cardboard into a circle and cover the top with preserved moss, soil, or rocks.”

Using moss herself, she filled the top part to create the illusion of a full pot.

Amy finished the tutorial by bending some branches of her olive tree to give it a more natural feel.

Many have adored the hack as they gushed about how much they “love” it and want to recreate it themselves.

“Ohhh this is so handy!” one person wrote, while another shared, “Makes such a difference!”

While a third made an alternative suggestion for using moss, as they said: “Just put real soil in there. It is so easy! People are shocked when I tell them I do this (also you should only have 1-2 fake plant tops)”. [sic]

But others were a little more critical of the fake plant, with one person saying: “Until someone asks if it’s real. Because they always ask”.

Another argued: “Just buy a real plant. See and smell much better, don’t end up in landfill. There are many low maintenance.” [sic]

A third suggested, “Why not just use real plants and learn how to care for them?”
