Indian restaurant Namaste opens on Cheapside in Spennymoor

On Thursday September 28, Namaste Indian Restaurant opened on Cheapside in Spennymoor to a crowd of curious diners eager to find out what it was all about.

And now, two weeks after opening, the Baltis, Biriyanis and Tandoori dishes seem to be a delight after some reviews described the restaurant as “fantastic” and “a real treat”.

The restaurant, which offers both dine-in and takeaway, has an extensive menu to order from – and has even confirmed it will be open on Christmas Day this year.

For foodie fans in County Durham, the Namaste brand may look familiar as the venue shares the same owners as the former Namaste restaurant, now closed on St John’s Road in the Meadowfield Industrial Estate in Durham.

Although the former Namaste restaurant in the industrial estate closed due to rising costs, the new Spennymoor restaurant, led by Taj Uddin, appears ready to delight customers with its food and hospitality.

Namaste began transforming Cheapside in July this year, with enthusiastic customers who were regulars at Meadowfield Industrial Estate and keen to try out the Spennymoor venue.

The restaurant can be found online and on social media and is not open on Mondays except public holidays.
