Inside secret room where flight attendants sleep on plane – and it’s bigger than you think

QATAR Airways Boeing 777s have a hidden room where flight attendants go to sleep on long flights.

The huge rooms are kept away from the passengers but are in the back of the plane.

Cabin crew members are provided with single beds screened by privacy curtains.

The rooms give flight attendants a much-needed chance to respite from handling passenger inquiries.

The sleeping areas, featured in a Business Insider article, are particularly useful on some of the airline’s longer flights, some lasting up to 16 hours.

Many aircraft have similar rooms for their cabin crew members, and some flight attendants show off their rooms via social media.

Travel expert and TikToker Michelle showed off some of the rooms in a video she shared online.

Michelle, who goes by the name @laxtoluxury, explained to viewers why the rooms are needed on long flights.

She explained: “You know that secret room where your pilots and flight attendants sleep?

“It’s called Crew Rest, and on this Dreamliner it’s behind the cockpit, up those hidden stairs that lead to a little room.

“[The room has] two beds with curtains you can pull for extra privacy.”

Some people joked that they didn’t want pilots to sleep during a flight, Michelle was quick to explain that this is only for long-haul flights.

Qantas first officer Rob Noonan also revealed some of the plane’s hidden areas that passengers often don’t see, including sleeping areas only accessible to crew members.

Rob said: “It is important to get adequate rest during the cruise, so we have a small secret crew rest area hidden in the ceiling above the flight deck.

“Pilots have a one-bedroom apartment up front [and] there are two cabin crew bedrooms aft.”
